Mitch Romney
I’m Mitch Romney (He/Him), a drummer, dance accompanist, and composer living on South Whidbey Island. I’ve been studying the drums for 20 years and have a bachelor’s in percussion performance from BYU. Before moving to the PNW I was teaching most of the middle- and high-school jazz drummers in Utah Valley. I have extensive performing experience, from jazz ensembles and orchestras to punk rock, pop, rock, hip hop, as well as West African and Afro-Cuban styles.
I’ve shared the stage with a growing number of wonderful performers including Mattie June, Natalie Weiss, Joey Contreras, Nestor Torres, Colbie Caillat, and Pavel Nuñez. In 2025 I played at Kilby Block Party alongside Weezer and other artists, and this past year opened for Suki Waterhouse in SLC. I’ve toured nationally with indie pop artist Beeson and internationally to Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Cambodia, Puerto Rico, Vietnam, and Cuba with university ensembles.
